Chad Michael Busto, age 43, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 11:59 p.m., Southampton Town Police announced.

Busto, who is originally from Washington DC, was first questioned by the department when, the afternoon before, he was reportedly riding his bike around the village of Sagaponack, going into private driveways and telling residents he was looking for actress Drew Barrymore’s home.

He was temporarily detained and questioned by police, who released him and believed that he left the Southampton area.

However, after an investigation, detectives determined that Busto’s actions warranted a stalking charge and they released a wanted flyer in the area for the man’s arrest.

Busto was located in East Hampton, where he was arrested and turned back over to Southampton Town Police for processing.

Busto was accused of stalking Barrymore when, on Monday, Aug. 21, he rushed up to the stage where the “50 First Dates” actress was giving an interview.

During that incident, which was uploaded on TikTok and now has over 5.5 million views, Busto can be heard saying, “You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while you’re in New York.”

Barrymore was whisked offstage by security and singer Reneé Rapp, who she was interviewing.

Busto faces a charge of stalking in the fourth degree, which is a misdemeanor.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, Aug. 25 at Southampton Town Justice Court.
